Power and the manner in which people exercise it have always fascinated me. I’ve always enjoyed reading about how different people left their impact on history, and presidents certainly do that. I didn’t start as a political junkie, but over the past ten years, I’ve become utterly dependent on keeping up with politics and current events. America has undergone significant changes over that time, particularly in the previous ten years. And it can be difficult to stay current on the central themes that have influenced both past and contemporary American political affairs in an age where the news cycle is assessed in hours rather than days or weeks. Regardless of how they feel about them, every American- and otherwise-should attempt to research the deeds (and negligence on the part) of their current and past leaders. Even the less effective ones had a bearing on how history turned out. After all, inaction has the same potential for impact as action. Readers can better understand the nation’s past, present, and potential future by reading pertinent biographies, memorials, and political texts. And what’s better than to read about such intriguing events in the form of a story? A historical thriller to be exact. And that is exactly what Beyond D-Day Blunder by Som K. Ajir delivers. Filled to the brim with details ( creative spins and more ) or important historical events and people, this book is a must-read for everyone. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration if I said this book truly ticked all the boxes. I was intrigued from the very first page.
Without giving too much away, this New Edition of “Beyond D-Day Blunder” is considerably more than just a historical thriller; it also has a great deal to do with the dynamic everyday happenings in current local and international political developments, which are always moving quickly. I loved how the author created a juxtaposition between the tragedies and political happenings faced by Germany as a nation and America’s future. It truly stays with you after you turn the final page and gives you much to ponder. Moreover, adding a hint of a well-done and fleshed-out romance based on a real story was a great touch and definitely made an impact.
The book may be a historical thriller, but the text is embedded with creative imaginings from the author that truly transcend it to another level. From the get-go, I could tell these were the words of someone who had done his research and spoke about his opinions without fear. And when it comes to politics, that’s an admirable quality. Speaking of the author, Som K. Ajir has longstanding experience operating consulting firms, notably one specializing in green energy. Moreover, he has received an Honorary Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. Although he considers himself more of a Strategic Pacifist, his friends often refer to him as a “Passionate Pacifist,” and that is how the idea for his books first occurred to him.
Overall, this book is a 5-star for me, and I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for anything else Som K. Ajir puts out into the market.
